Basin Bluegrass Festival returns to Brandon

July 8-11 — BRANDON — The 26th annual Basin Bluegrass Festival begins this Thursday evening in Brandon with a spaghetti supper followed by a country concert. The next three days will feature all day music by bands from up and down the East Coast. There will also be workshops for guitar, fiddle, bass, banjo, and mandolin throughout the weekend.

The festival is held at the end of Basin Road and will be well signed from Brandon. Expect food and craft concessions, cover for rain or shine, water to fill your tank, free showers, a raffle and a dump station ($15). Tenters are welcome, as are lawn chairs, but please avoid high-backed chairs and umbrellas in the concert area.

Cannonball Express kicks off the festivities Thursday nights. Smokey Green & Sons will close the festival on Sunday afternoon. Greene, a country pioneer, has been playing music for nearly 80 years. MC’s Clyde Proch and Donnie Sprague will entertain all weekend long.
