BarnArts presents Myra Flynn at Feast & Field

Vermonter Myra Flynn takes the outdoor stage at Feast & Field as part of BarnArts Music on the Farm series on Thursday, Aug. 18. This exceptionally talented singer-songwriter embraces the dichotomy of her Half Irish and half African American ancestry to craft highly original songs that blend soulful vocals with a delivery that doesn’t let one get too comfortable.

New England Deli Magazine describes her music this way, “Her vocal influences have as much in common with Ani Difranco and Shawn Colvin as they do with Rihanna and Jill Scott.”

Myra Flynn spent her Vermont childhood clad in leopard print and platform shoes, singing and dancing atop anything that looked remotely like a stage. These days, not much has changed. She has since shared stages with: Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Mike Gordon (Phish) , Gabrielle Gordon (Natalie Merchant), Sonya Kitchell, Rayvon, Res, Alexa Ray Joel, Slick Rick, Anais Mitchell and Lee “Scratch” Perry.

Currently, Myra Flynn is the engagement producer for Vermont Public, the recently combined VPR and Vermont PBS affiliate.

Her motto regarding next steps and fame tends to be: “If you’re doing it, you’ve already made it.” BarnArts Music is located at Fable Farm, 1525 Royalton Turnpike in Barnard. The doors for the show open at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m.
