Ain’t Dead Yet Weekend returns for second annual celebration, June 24-26

KILLINGTON — On the weekend of June 24-26, 2016, the Summit Lodge in Killington will be hosting the All Killington Reunion Weekend, a.k.a. Okie’s Ain’t Dead Yet Weekend. The weekend kicks off with a meet and greet at the Summit at 5 p.m., or earlier if you happen to be in the neighborhood. There will be slide shows, lots of “old pies” and a chance to re-kindle old friendships and put hair on all those balding heads, organizers say.
Saturday attendees are encouraged to cruise around Killington and catch up on what’s new in the area: the adventure center, the umbrella bars, the new covered bridge, new restaurants as well as the old haunts. Saturday evening, starting at 7 p.m. at the Summit Lodge, there will be a barbecue and the “Killington Musicians Union, Reunion and Rolling Blunders Jam Session” featuring many of the musicians that you’ve enjoyed over the years here in Killington. The list of performers will be available as soon as they step up and “get on the bandwagon, so to speak” organizers said.
Sunday, from 12 to 2 p.m. or so, it’s the “Jam Session Musicians Stick Ball Tournament,” which will be played on the tennis courts at the Summit Lodge. The players in the tournament will be limited to the musicians who partake in the jam session. Four man/woman teams and no base running! Just hit the rubber ball as far as you can with a broomstick… ol’ fashion, low-tech fun! There will be beer and hot dogs, I mean what’s a stick ball tournament without beer and hot dogs?
So mark the dates on your calendar, get in touch with your old ski buds and coworkers and come up for a few laughs. Events will be added to the weekend activities as the date approaches. For more information visit the All Killington Reunion Weekend Facebook page and share the event. Additional questions can be directed to Ned Dyer 422-2043, or ned@summitiodgevt.com.
