Rutland city voters approved a $5 million bond to improve city streets and sidewalks on Town Meeting Day March 3.
The bond passed 3299-898.
Voters also elected two new members to the Board of Aldermen. Incumbents Scott Tommola and Matthew Reveal were knocked off the board by challengers Michael Talbott and Sam Gorruso.
Board President Sharon Davis earned 2,093 votes, followed by Paul Clifford with 2,036. Talbott took 1,971 votes, Gorruso had 1,866 votes, while Matt Whitcomb had 1,715. votes and Tommola had 1,432 and Reveal had 1,431. John Atwood fell short with 1,445. Kam Johnston had 723 votes.
Gorruso, who previously served on the board, told PEGTV he was “in it to make Rutland a better place.”
Bernie Sanders is also the front runner in the Democratic primary election, with Joe Biden in second, followed by Michael Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren.
