Okemo Mountain Resort’s Jackson Gore Inn will host the Vermont Symphony Orchestra on Friday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. — LUDLOW —Okemo Mountain Resort’s Jackson Gore Inn will welcome the 2016 TD Bank Summer Festival Tour of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra on Friday, July 8 in the courtyard of the Jackson Gore Inn. The grounds will open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking prior to the 7:30 p.m. concert. Tickets may be purchased in advance at okemo.com. Adult tickets are priced at $32 in advance or $35 at the gate. Tickets for children under 18 are free in advance (with the purchase of adult tickets) or $5 at the gate.
Pack a passport in the picnic basket and join the VSO for a whirlwind tour of 11 countries, five continents – and beyond. From the Great Wall to a gypsy encampment to a hacienda to the far reaches of the universe, the orchestra’s music will transport concert goers. The travelogue concludes with the 1812 Overture, marches, and fireworks.
Lawn chairs and picnic blankets for seating are encouraged. Dining options include fresh-from-the-grill burgers, hot dogs and other barbecue favorites, with beer and wine available. In case of rain, the concert will move indoors to Okemo’s Ice House.
The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is the only professional statewide orchestra that provides live musical experiences for listeners in Vermont. It is a state-supported non-profit institution founded in 1935 and exists for the purpose of fostering and encouraging the appreciation of music in all its various forms, with emphasis on orchestral, choral and chamber music.
