Tractor attack on night deposit results in grand larceny charge

RUTLAND TOWN — On May 23 Chase B. Siliski is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer to the charges of grand larceny, attempted grand larceny and unlawful mischief. Siliski was arrested April 10, after police investigation alleged that he was the operator of the tractor seen attempting to break into a credit union Nov. 4, 2015, at about 2:30 a.m.
Members of the Fair Haven Rescue Squad returning from the hospital had observed an attempted theft in progress at the Green Mountain Credit Union, located at 3141 Cold River Road in Rutland Town that night. They and a passerby reported that a man driving a tractor was ramming into the night deposit located on the north side of the credit union.
While state police were en route, the man left the scene on the tractor, traveling east on Cold River Road, then turning into the Adele Stanley apartment complex. As troopers arrived, they saw the man run from the tractor into the woods. The tractor continued to travel through the lawn behind the apartments and hit a large tree just feet from a building. After an extensive search, the male suspect was not located at that time.
On April 10, Vermont State Police arrested Chase B. Siliski who was processed and released on a citation to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division on May 23 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charges of grand larceny, attempted grand larceny and unlawful mischief.
