Woodstock film festival screens “The Salt of the Earth” Saturday

Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. — WOODSTOCK — The 6th Annual Woodstock Vermont Film Series at the Billings Farm & Museum will feature the award-winning documentary “The Salt of the Earth” on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

For the last 40 years, photographer Sebastião Salgado has been traveling the continents, in the footsteps of an ever-changing humanity.  He has witnessed some of the major events of our recent history: international conflicts, starvation, and exodus. Salgado is now embarking on the discovery of pristine territories, of wild fauna and flora, and of grandiose landscapes as part of a huge photographic project, which is a tribute to the planet’s beauty. His life and work are revealed to us by his son, Juliano, who accompanied him on his last travels.

The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature; additional 10 wins and nine nominations. All films are shown in HD projection and surround sound, with complimentary refreshments.

Tickets prices are: members, adults 16 and up, $9; children ages 3-15, $5. Non-members, adults 16 and up, $11; children ages 3-15, $6. For additional information, visit www.billingsfarm.org/filmfest or call 802-457-2355.
