Vermont holds mock primary to coincide with New Hampshire

RUTLAND – The Paramount Theatre and Castleton University present an evening highlighting the primary process as part of the 14-month series, Project 240: Celebrating the American Experience on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Paramount Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and all attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a mock primary hosted by the Castleton Polling Institute.

The evening will feature a 7 p.m. screening of the 1960 landmark documentary film “Primary” which chronicles the 1960 Wisconsin primary between the two Democratic front runners vying for the presidential nomination — John F. Kennedy and Hubert H. Humphrey. Groundbreaking for its time, it features work from iconic filmmakers Albert Maysles and D.A. Pennebaker.

After the screening, audience members will enjoy discussion and presentations from Castleton University research students, the Castleton Polling Institute, and Washington County Senator Anthony Pollina. The event will culminate with live broadcast from the New Hampshire Primary.
