VAC holds open house, community celebration

Saturday, April 9 at 10 a.m. — RUTLAND — In celebration of the Month of the Young Child and Autism Awareness Month, the Vermont Achievement Center ( VAC ), 88 Park Street in Rutland will hold its annual open house on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and will feature children’s activities, parent workshops and informational and supportive vendors from the area, plus a barbecue lunch.

Children’s events will include a bounce house, VINS “Bird on a Glove” demonstration, Wonderfeet Museum, face painting, storytelling, pool party at Mitchell Therapy Pool, music with Mr. Leslie, Yoga with Kula Cooperative, and arts and crafts projects.

Parent workshops will focus on children on the autism spectrum and navigating behaviors, along with some techniques on relaxation and promoting calmness.
