Try something new in June, at the Carving Studio

June — WEST RUTLAND — The Carving Studio and Sculpture Center offers various workshops scheduled in June. Leading off this year during the week of June 8-12 is “Welded Steel Assemblies” with John Tidd.Tidd communicates his experience in fine art and industrial fabrication to workshop participants.

The following week, June 15-19, offers two very different styles of sculptural expression. “Stone, Wood and More” with Bart Uchida explores the potential for combining techniques and media to produce a cohesive artwork, while “Pate de Verre” with Angus Munro focusses on a particular method of glass casting. Basic artistic skills are taught in “Sculpture in Stone” with Carlos Dorrien and “Cold Cast Sculpture” with Elliott Katz June 22-26.

Finally, popular instructors Anne Brisson and Frank Anjo return for two-day workshops the weekend of June 27 and 28. Brisson goes beyond expectations for papier maché in “Pulp Paper” and Anjo helps participants discover the possibilities of “Relief Carving” in slate.
