Saturday, May 21 at 4 p.m. — GRANVILLE, N.Y. — The Slate Valley Museum will host its second Spring Tasting on the Alley on Saturday, May 21 from 4-7 p.m. The event features partnerships with local and regional wineries and breweries who will bring their crafted beverages and restaurants and food vendors who will share their culinary creations for attendees to taste.

The event will take place in and around the museum, situated along the picturesque Mettowee River. This backdrop rests along what was once referred to as “The Alley,” a neighborhood featuring immigrant row houses and several liquor-serving establishments. Once known as a raucous locale to some and as home to others, the site has been transformed by the Village of Granville into a cultural campus featuring two museums, one being the Slate Valley Museum.

“The first Spring Tasting was held last year and it was a big success. We accomplished our goals of introducing more of the public to the museum, raising funds, and partnering with local businesses,” explains Event Chair and Museum Trustee Kathy Putz. “This year we are planning a bigger and better event with local businesses and a bigger display about the history of the Alley.”

To date, Adirondack Winery, Argyle Brewing, Battle Hill Brewing Co., Brown’s Brewing Co., Oliva Vineyard, Slyboro Cider House, Thirsty Owl Wine Company, and Victory View Vineyard will be sharing tastings of their craft beverages. Food partners include Consider Bardwell Farm, Crowley Cheese, Edwards Market, and O’Callahan’s Pub & Grill. Vermont Sweetwater Bottling Co. will provide an array of non-alcoholic beverages for designated drivers. Will at 2ndTime Around Consignment shop is making his famous lemon bars and Fresh Take Farms of Granville will provide vegetables.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 before May 20 by calling 518-642-1417; or $10 for designated drivers. Space is limited. Admission includes a SVM glass. Remaining tickets will be sold for $30 at the door. Age 21+, please.
