Rutland Rec Department offers hike and bake programs

Saturday, Oct. 3 — RUTLAND — The Rutland Rec Department is offering two classes starting this week. Join naturalist Tom Estill on Saturday, Oct. 3 in exploring the natural history of Pine Hill Park at the height of the fall foliage season for a family nature hike. This easy to moderate hike is designed for all ages. There will be lots of opportunities to take pictures of our spectacular fall foliage plus see Muddy Pond covered with migrating waterfowl. The hike goes from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and is free.

Also on Oct. 3 is a pizza baking class with June Osowski. Great pizza is easy to make at home! Bake a BLT pizza to sample; each student will make dough to take home to make their own creation. Participants should bring their own mixing bowl and spoon. The class runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 16 North Street Extension, Rutland. The fee is $5.
