Plymouth Notch antique apple fest features seasonal treats, recipe contest

Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. — PLYMOUTH NOTCH — The first annual Plymouth Notch Antique Apple Fest will be held at the President Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Coolidge Site has held a harvest festival for many years, but this year’s event has a whole new twist, with historic apples as the theme. Visitors can tour the new heirloom apple orchard with its rare antique apple varieties, or join the fun of apple tossing and peeling apples with an antique kitchen implement.

New this year is the “Anything Apple” recipe contest. Special fest guests include Anne Collins, author of the highly acclaimed “Vintage Pies.” At 1 p.m., she will tell stories about the old recipes that she has discovered.
