Pittsfield’s Picnic raises money for town’s basketball court

PITTSFIELD—Pittsfield hosted the 5th annual Pittsfield Picnic on Aug. 28, 2016. Participants enjoyed the potluck, music by The Detours, field games, a spirited horseshoe tournament, and over 100 silent auction items to bid on. The event raised nearly $2,700 which will be put towards continued efforts to rehabilitate the town’s basketball court. To date, approximately just under $9,000 has been raised towards the goal of approximately $24,000 to see this project to completion.
“We are happy to announce the project has now officially begun with the delivery of new basketball goals that should be installed this fall,” said Erica Hurd, event organizer. Pittsfield’s Picnic is a 100 percent volunteer-run event. Many thanks go out to those who helped to make it a great day including many local sponsors.
Congratulations to the winners of the “Pittsfield Proud” horseshoe tournament. The gold medal went to Sarah Gallagher and Robert Santell, the silver to Roy Hopgood and Gary Mayer, and bronze to Steve Martin and Wallace Everett.
