Pentangle delivers an afternoon of chamber music

Sunday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.—WOODSTOCK—Pentangle is thrilled to present Leslie Stroud and Matthew Odell in “A Paris Afternoon in Woodstock,” Sunday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m. at North Universalist Chapel, 7 Church Street, Woodstock. The concert features chamber music for flute and piano by French composers Albert Roussel, Michel Merlet, Francis Poulenc, Olivier Messiaen and César Franck.
Duo partners Leslie Stroud, flute and Matthew Odell, piano will perform colorful, vibrant and often provocative music reflecting the rich intersection of art, culture and composition in France. From Albert Roussel’s musical pictures of mythical flute players, to Olivier Messiaen’s fantastical impression of “Le Merle Noir,” to César Franck’s stunning evocation of the human spirit, Stroud and Odell make an impressionistic journey across the ocean.
Performing throughout New England, Ms. Stroud on flute and Mr. Odell, pianist have quickly established themselves as provocative and colorful duo partners in presenting the richly varied chamber music written for flute and piano.
