Sophomores to attend career summit

RUTLAND COUNTY - The upcoming Sophomore Career Summit is about high school sophomores and career exploration. This event, now in its second year, will be held Oct. 10 at Castleton State College from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Approximately 400 sophomores from Rutland High School, Otter Valley Union High School, West Rutland High School, Mill River Union High School, and Mount Saint Joseph Academy will be attending career panel sessions led by professionals who represent different occupations within a broad career area, to learn about their particular fields of interest. There are 17 career pathways offered, with nearly 75 professionals dedicating their time to this event.

The goal of the Sophomore Career Summit is to inform and excite these students about career options and provide them with resources that will help them make sound choices.

In addition to the panel sessions, students will hear Keynote Speaker, Armando Vilaseca Secretary with the Vermont Agency of Education. In addition, motivational speaker Colin Ryan will speak to the students about financial literacy.
