Shear Heaven expands to add tanning and sauna services

Shear Heaven has been growing steadily since it opened almost 10 years ago in Rutland. In addition to styling and coloring hair, the salon offers nail services, pedicures, waxing, make-up and body and facial treatments. Soon to be added to that list are tanning and sauna services. Shear Heaven recently purchased a nearby building, which will provide the additional space needed.

"A smart tan is a safe tan," said Owner Jackie Lorman. "I think what is so amazing about our place is that we educate the customers. Education is very important at Shear Heaven. In order to work here you have to attend at least three schools a year. We are committed to teaching customers how to tan safely. We strive to enhance external appearance and also generate internal well-being."

Lorman has achieved master certifications and VT licensure as a micro-pigmentation provider, a skin and nail technician, hair stylist, esthetician and most recently UV light provider. Lorman explained that ultraviolet light (UV) can be beneficial as it is sometimes used as a part of therapy and treatment of skin disorders and other ailments. "I believe that tanned skin can be healthy while burnt skin is not," she said. "We want to make sure people use ultraviolet light safely here."

Shear Heaven hopes to be offering their new services by the end of August. For more information visit
