Summit Saints Baseball Team searches for new talent

The Summit Saints Baseball team from Killington is looking for a few good men. This is not a softball team. The team is a member of the Vermont Men's Senior Baseball League, which is a wood bat league. The league is for players that are 40 years old and up, although a team can have four players that are between the ages 35 and 39.

The Summit Saints have been in this league for the past 14 years. Games are played every Sunday, except for Mother's Day, for 17 weeks, and then play-offs. The season starts Sunday, April 28 and all games begin at noon.

According to team coordinator Ray Foley, while the Saints are a Killington team, "the home playing field is the Woodstock High School field in Woodstock" players can be from any town.

The Summit Saints play teams as far away as Burlington; so be ready to travel for eight games. All home games include a party at the Summit Lodge's cabana bar after the game. "That alone is reason enough to join the team," Foley noted.

"Softball can be fun, but isn't it time for some real baseball?" Foley said.
