Men's open snowboard winner, Sean Jeffers, of Springfield, Vt.,
launches into the Amp Energy Big Air Bag at Okemo's
Huckfest.
Spectators gathered to see some high-flying antics as skiers and
riders competed in Okemo Mountain Resort's Huckfest 2013 on
Saturday, Feb. 16.
Huckfest competitors launched themselves off a snowy ramp, into
the air, and landed on a giant inflated pillow - similar to the
ones used by movie stuntmen. The Amp Energy Big Air Bag, made of
sturdy PVC and manufactured in The Netherlands, is 30 feet wide and
50 feet long. Internal air pumps ensure constant air pressure to
absorb the impact of landings.
Jesse Kendall, of Chester, Vt., won Best Trick Overall and was
the victor in the Junior Snowboard division, earning him a cash
prize and a new snowboard.
In the Men's Open Snowboard division, first place went to Sean
Jeffers, of Springfield, Vt. Brian Prish, of Woodstock, Vt., took
second and Cody Vanderburgh, of North Springfield, Vt., placed
third.
Logan White, of Los Angeles, Calif., took top honors in the
Men's Open Ski division and Chris Kasprak , of Ludlow, Vt., snagged
second place.
Julia Hoeh, of Mt. Holly, Vt., won the Women's Open Ski
division.
Top Junior Snowboard honors went to Jesse Kendall, of Chester,
Vt., and Dillon Jalbert, of Ludlow, Vt., placed second.
Christian Backe , of Ludlow, Vt., won the Junior Ski division and
Liam Burke placed second.
Okemo's Amp Energy Big Air Bag is not just for competing
athletes. Located on the bottom of Okemo's Lower Chief trail, the
Amp Energy Big Air Bag is open to the public on Fridays-Sundays.
Tickets are sold individually for $5 a jump or three for $12.
