Representatives from some of the Rutland County RSVP Bone
Builders classes were present in Montpelier as Governor Shumlin
signed the proclamation declaring May as Vermont Osteoporosis
Awareness Month highlighting the role of RSVP Bone Builders in
preventing and reversing osteoporosis. One in three women and one
in seven men in Vermont over the age of 55 will suffer an
osteoporosis related fracture in their lifetime.
Representaive Peg Andrews of Rutland offered the proclamation
since Bone Builders originated in Rutland and Addison Counties with
one pilot class in each county. It has since grown to 110 classes
statewide.
