Emil Kuhling, 97, died on March 23, 2013 in Rutland,
Vt. Emil, a long-term resident of Woodside Queens, NY came to
Killington in 2006 to live with Red and Taylor Glaze on Deanhill
Road. Emil enjoyed his last years in Vermont and was often
seen walking along Deanhill Road with Abby the golden retriever,
and Rusty the cat following behind.
Emil was a Friday night regular at the bar at Domenic's where he
and Red shared a Heineken and pizza while visiting with friends.
His friendly manor, bright and animated conversations and his smile
will long be remembered.
Emil Kuhling served in the US Army Air Corps during WW11 and
upon returning to NYC he became a career firefighter in Brooklyn,
Emil is survived by his nephew, Richard Kuhling of Spokane WA, and
niece's Taylor Glaze, Killington, Vt., and Suzan Harding,
Portsmouth, NH and eight great-nieces and nephews and three
great-great nephews and niece.
Graveside burial will take place at 12-noon on May 14, 2013 at
the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center,
Vt. The Vermont National Guard will perform the honors with a
21-gun salute, flag ceremony and the playing of taps.
