Dear Editor,
Thank you to the residents of Killington for considering me for
the position of selectwoman. I am running again this year because I
strongly believe in the town of Killington and it's future. In 2012
the select board wisely adopted a four point Strategic Operating
Plan. It outlines and gives our town a framework to achieve the
goals we all as town citizens would like to see: a strong economic
base, efficient, effective town services and infrastructure with
low taxes, and a vibrant community with educational, cultural and
recreational opportunities. The beauty of this plan is that each of
these goals feed and strengthens the others.
We are slowly moving forward as a town and it is important that
we don't lose steam or get caught up in the minutia. As a select
person I would work hard to understand the issues we face, to look
at those issues objectively, without partisanship, to determine the
advantages and disadvantages that each presents. I would listen and
consider respectfully the thoughts and ideas of our citizens and
employees, and encourage thoughtful discussion to find the best
path for our town to proceed.
We have very important issues in front of us, a water system,
the streetscape projects, needed infrastructure and police
services, and impact of the new village on all of these are but a
few. I feel that my strongest attribute is to look at the issues
from all angles and study the facts. I don't rush into, nor make
rash decisions. I believe decisions should be made based on logic,
fairness and consideration of both long and short-term
ramifications. So I ask your support and vote on March 5 to share
in this prosperous vision of our future that can benefit our entire
community.
Thank you,
Patty McGrath
