On Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at approximately 5:18 p.m., members of
the Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks responded to a
report of a pedestrian vs motor vehicle crash on US RT 4 near the
Cortina Inn in Mendon, Vt.
The pedestrian, Drury Morgan, age 45 from Mendon, was reported
to have been struck by two vehicles while crossing US Route 4 and
succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The operator of the second
vehicle, Joseph Ferrara, age 50 from Huntington Station, NY, pulled
over after the collision and immediately contacted the State
Police.
Although still under investigation, alcohol and speed do not
appear to be a factor for the operator of the second vehicle.
The first vehicle left the scene. A witness statement described
the first vehicle as a dark colored, possibly green, station wagon
or hatchback type vehicle similar to a Subaru with unknown
registration. A witness statement further described possible damage
to the front passenger side of the vehicle.
