On Monday, Nov. 26 at approximately 6:49 a.m. firefighters from
the Rutland Town Fire Department; Regional Ambulance Service; and
members of the Vermont State
Police responded to US Route 7 North near William's Farm in the
Town of Rutland, Vt. for a report of a two vehicle crash with
serious injuries.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was found that 43-year-old Donna
Arnado of Rutland was deceased at the scene.
Initial investigation found Arnado was driving north in her 2002
Chevrolet Tracker when she crossed an icy bridge on US Route
7. While on the bridge, Arnado's car spun causing it to go
into the oncoming southbound lane.
54-year-old John Thomas of Rutland Town was driving southbound
on US Route 7 South in a 2004 GMC pickup truck. Arnado's vehicle
went left of center and stuck Thomas's vehicle. Arnado was wearing
her seatbelt. Conditions were overcast with light snow and icy
roads.
Both vehicles were a total loss due to the impact. Neither
speed, drugs, or alcohol appear to be factors in this crash.
Donna Arnado was immediately declared Deceased At Scene. John
Thomas Vermont, who was not wearing his seatbelt, suffered minor
injuries including bruised ribs and was transported to Rutland
Regional Medical Center.
