Killington Wine Festival: Taste your way through the weekend
Signature events include the Estate Wine Tasting, Killington Wine Trail, Grand Tasting at 4,241’, the Bubbly Brunch and Wine & Nine scramble

July 19-21 - KILLINGTON - The Killington Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome back the popular Killington Wine Festival for its 12th year at the mountain resort town. This year the festival will feature some 500 wines from over 40 vineyards around the world.

The Wine Festival kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, July 19 with the Estate Wine Tasting at the poolside patio at the Killington Grand Hotel, which offers sprawling view of Snowshed Pond and Killington Mountain. 13 wineries will sample their collections of estate and reserve wines. This intimate tastings caps off at 100 tickets, giving attendees and winery representatives the opportunity to discuss the nuances of the fine wines being poured. Tickets for the Estate Wine Tasting are $75 and advanced purchase is recommended.

Back by popular demand is the Killington Wine Trail, where over a dozen restaurants along Killington Road will transform into 'tasting rooms' to showcase a special wine, or food and wine pairing. These specials will run on Friday from 6-10 p.m. at various restaurants on the Killington Road. Each stop will feature a different wine or wine portfolio paired with bites ranging from gourmet cheese to Italian tapas to desserts. Restaurants participating this year include: The Birch Ridge Inn, Casey's Caboose, Charity's, Choices, Domenic's, Jax, Liquid Art, Lookout Tavern, On the Rocs Lounge, Peppino's, The Foundry, The Garlic, The Snow Angel, and Outback Pizza.

Reservations are not required. Prices and offerings vary at each establishment. Free transportation between restaurants will be available. Call Gramps Shuttle to schedule a pick-up 30 minutes in advance, 802-558-1543.

The signature event of the Festival, The Grand Tasting at 4,241', takes place Saturday, July 20 from 1-4 p.m. at Killington Resort's Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars and Deck. One of the Umbrella Bars will become the 'Vermont Pavilion', dedicated to Vermont wines and local artisan foods including cheese, sausage, jams and more.

In the large tents there will be a seemingly endless variety of wines produced domestically and from places as far away as France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Argentina and South Africa from other wineries and distributors. While sipping wine, guests can enjoy hors d' oeuvres, stunning mountain views and live music by the Adam Ezra Duo.

Tickets for the event are $60 and include a signature tote and wine glass and a roundtrip ride to Killington Peak on the K-1 Express Gondola. VIP tickets are also available for $75 granting guests a 12-noon early admission to the Grand Tasting.
The fun continues on Saturday night, when local chefs and wineries from the weekend's tastings will team up to create wine dinners at Birch Ridge Inn, Liquid Art and Red Clover Inn.

A Bubbly Brunch on Sunday will be held at The Foundry this year, followed by the Wine & Nine Golf Scramble at Green Mountain National Golf Course to round out the weekend of events. Participants in the golf outing will enjoy specially selected "golf friendly" wines, and nine holes of golf with friends (scramble format, cart included).
