The Biggest Loser RunWalk announced Feb. 6 that it will be
hosting a Get Fit, Get Ready 5K/15K and one-mile Kids' Race on
Sunday, July 28, 2013 in Killington, Vt. From the first-time runner
to the elite athlete, The Biggest Loser RunWalk Killington
encourages visitors and locals to hit the wooded roads and gear up
for an inspirational event in the heart of Vermont's Green
Mountains. The Biggest Loser RunWalk is licensed through the
NBCUniversal Television Consumer Products Group and Shine
America.
Killington Town Manager Seth Webb says, "We are delighted to
welcome the Biggest Loser RunWalk. The heart of the Green Mountains
is the perfect place to host the Get Fit Get Ready race
series."
The Biggest Loser RunWalk chose Vermont due to the efforts of
the Town of Killington, which is helping aid in the race planning
process. The Town of Killington partnered with Dan and Jackie
Evans, founders of The Biggest Loser RunWalk and Season 5
contestants on NBC's hit show, "The Biggest Loser," to offer the
RunWalk in a non-intimidating environment with a
long time limit to allow runners and walkers to complete the race
at their own pace. The Biggest Loser RunWalk is known for the
perks, participants receive an exclusive Biggest Loser running
shirt, finisher's medal, healthy snacks and much
more.
The Biggest Loser RunWalk 5K/15K course starts and finishes at
Killington Resort's K-1 Lodge and Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars.
The 5K route travels through Killington's downtown and features
breathtaking views of Killington Peak, the second highest peak in
Vermont. The 15k route, great for someone's first 15K, travels
along rustic wooded roads with stunning views of the Green
Mountains. After the race, participants, family and friends can
celebrate and relax at the post-race concert featuring former
"Biggest Loser" contestant and Nashville recording artist, Dan
Evans at Killington Resort's Roaring Brook Umbrella Bar or take in
the lush green landscape during a gondola ride to Killington
peak.
On Saturday, July 27, 2013, participants and the community can
get inspired for the next day's race at the Health & Wellness
Meet and Greet. While there, participants will pick up their race
information, can take advantage of workshops from past Biggest
Loser contestants, can take part in the Biggest Loser Q & A and
much more. Afterwards, participants are invited to a free outdoor
concert hosted by the Town of Killington and Killington Resort.
Past performers have included Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Max Creek,
Badfish and Sister Hazel.
