Are those indoor games getting stale? Has Scrabble got your
brains scrambled? Well, gear up and come outside with VINS this
winter!
The Vermont Institute of Natural Science invites adults and
children of all ages to enjoy the season outdoors. VINS has a full
slate of events, including two very special evenings on the weekend
of Jan. 26-27: Family Fun Night at the VINS Nature Center and
Winter Wine and Dine at Marshland Farms.
On Saturday, Jan. 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., families will enjoy
the beauty of a crisp winter, moonlit sky while snowshoeing through
the woods at the VINS Nature Center. Listen to legends of the night
sky, create your own star map, and meet some of the animals that
roam the forest at night. Family Fun Night is $8 for VINS members
and $10 for the general public. Snowshoes are available for rent,
but supplies are limited, so program participants are encouraged to
bring their own. Please pre-register for this event by Jan. 25.
And on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 5:15-9 p.m., celebrate winter in
Vermont and explore the natural world as we hike the trails at
Marshland Farms under a moonlit sky. Learn how plants and animals
survive the cold and discover some of the hidden secrets of the
landscape with a VINS educator and Marty Banak of Wilderness
Trails. Weather-permitting, we will do our exploring on snowshoes
(available for rent from Wilderness Trails or bring your own). Then
we'll head inside for a delicious three-course meal at the Quechee
Inn. VINS is delighted to be working with Wilderness Trails and the
Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm to provide you with this enjoyable
evening. The event cost is $40 for members and $50 for the
general public. Please pre-register for this event by Jan. 23.
Visit www.vinsweb.org or calling 802-359-5000 ext. 223 to
register for both of these events. You can also check out our full
schedule of events at the VINS website.
