The Chaffee Art Center announces an exciting artist talk with
photographer Evie Lovett.
Join us Thursday, Jan. 31, from 7-8 p.m. at our new downtown
Chaffee located at 75 Merchants Row in Rutland for an evening of
conversation with Evie Lovett as she discusses her own unique and
fun experiences hanging out backstage at the Rainbow Cattle Co.
with the drag queens of Dummerston, Vt. Questions from the audience
will also be welcomed and explored.
The new show entitled Backstage at the Rainbow Cattle Co.,
features gorgeous black & white photographs taken of drag
queens during their preparation for performances. For two years
photographer Evie Lovett captured an intimate view of this
transformation, spending countless hours backstage at this rural
gay bar in Dummerston, Vt., just north of Brattleboro. This exhibit
also features audio excerpts from interviews conducted by Greg
Sharrow of the Vermont Folklife Center and Evie herself. Let your
hair down and come enjoy a great show of stunning photographs and
outrageous creativity.
The show was organized by the Vermont Folklife Center and made
possible by a grant from the Samara Fund of the Vermont Community
Foundation and in collaboration with RU12? and Outright Vermont. It
will travel to all fourteen counties of Vermont - do not miss this
exciting show at Chaffee Downtown. The show will be on through Feb.
