Light a candle in memory of a child

On Sunday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m., there will be a Candle Lighting Ceremony to remember and honor our children who have died.

It will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Hillside Rd., off Woodstock Ave. (just behind the Pizza Hut). This is not a religious service, but a reflective time. During this hour there will be readings and some music and candles lit to give us time during the holiday to offer this gift to our children.

Family and friends are welcome. This coincides with the annual International Candle Lighting which begins in New Zealand and as candles are lit around the world it becomes a 24 hour memorial. We start at 4 p.m. to allow people to be in their own homes at the time of the 7 p.m. official World Wide Lighting.
