New KAG exhibit: Art & Expression features Alice
By The Killington Arts Guild
On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Killington Arts Guild will host an
opening reception for their new show "Art & Expression."
Founding member Alice Sciore is this exhibit's featured artist,
presenting a body of work that covers a broad selection of mediums.
Included in the exhibit are paintings, wood and clay sculpture,
paper sculpture and mixed media works of art. New creations by KAG
members will also be on display and for sale just in time for the
Featured Artist Alice Sciore is a resident of Killington, Gallery
and Marketing Director for the Guild, and co-founder of the
Killington Arts Guild, responsible for exhibits and promotion. She
studied art at Jamesine Franklin and The Art Students League, with
brief sculpture studies in Rome, Italy. She is a fine artist,
professional Graphic Designer, has created architectural
illustrations, logos, brochures and writing for local businesses.
Other associations include The Vermont Watercolor Society and
American Penn Society.
Sciore enjoys creating art with many different mediums. She says
the subject matter draws her into itself and she likes to get close
to it so she can say what she sees and feels. Each encounter with
her subjects establishes the defining force responsible for
variations in her mode of expression. Sciore sees Vermont landscape
as pure design and rhythm, and painting in the field is very
special for her.
Alice Sciore enjoys working with clay and a wide range of mediums
but feels that wood offers surprises, freedom of expression and may
redirect her plans "…this is a great form of adventure working with
what the wood wants me to do, makes me see my own plan through
another point of view." This is where fact and fiction become
design for her.
At home, Sciore maintains her fine art and graphics studio as well
as the Mountain Gallery where she displays her work. Visitors are
welcome by appointment or by chance on Route 4, a quarter mile east
of the Killington Gondola.
"Art & Expression" featuring Alice's work and that of other
members of the Guild, will begin with a reception on Nov. 23 from
1-3:30 p.m. at the KAG Gallery, located upstairs at Cabin Fever /
Base Camp, 2363 Route 4 across from the base of Killington Access
Road. The show will run through Feb. 9, 2014.
