Teen falls asleep driving, crashes car

STOCKBRIDGE - On Sept. 21 at approx. 11:10 p.m. Vermont State Police and White River Valley Ambulance were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle crash on Route 107 in Stockbridge. Investigation showed that Noah Markwood, age 18 from Randolph, Vt., was on his way home traveling Eastbound when he appeared to have fallen asleep and failed to negotiate a sweeping curve in the roadway. His vehicle, a 2002 Subaru Impreza, traveled off the roadway, striking, and breaking through a section of guardrail and became airborne and began to overturn and rotate, before the roof of the vehicle collided with a tree crushing the roof into the occupant compartment.

Markwood was transported to Gifford Medical Center by W.R.V.A. for treatment for a shoulder injury sustained in the crash. He was wearing his seatbelt.
