RUTLAND (AP) The Vermont office of the United States attorney
says five Rutland residents have been charged with distributing
heroin and cocaine.
Prosecutors announced the indictments Friday, a day after the
defendants were arrested during raids in the Rutland area.
They all pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Judge John M. Conroy
ordered that 30-year-old Terrence Chenault be held pending trial.
The other defendants, 51-year-old Ernest Murray, 44-year-old Eric
Dixon, 24-year-old Eric Harris and 25-year-old Morgaine Chuderski
were ordered held pending detention hearings.
If convicted, all the defendants face a minimum of 20 years in
prison. Murray could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison.
Attorneys for the five could not be immediately located.
