Special enforcement targeted underage drinking and sale of alcohol to minors, Easter weekend

WINDSOR COUNTY-On March 29-30, 2013 enforcement patrols were increased in Windsor County (Chester, Ludlow, Springfield, Cavendish, Weathersfield) with a primary focus of deterring and detecting underage drinking and the sale of alcohol to minors.
This was a collaborative effort amongst local law enforcement. Uniform officers were teamed up with officers in plain clothes to target specific areas to include convenience stores and other establishments where alcohol is sold.

Plain clothes officers worked with store employees to assist in the detection of fake IDs as well as identifying persons in the stores attempting to buy alcohol for minors while the uniform officers conducted traffic stops in the area with a primary focus on alcohol related crimes. On Saturday, March 30, the detail proved effective as one officer arrested a subject for DUI, many of the local store employees were educated on the importance of checking identification closely and monitoring those persons that may be procuring alcohol at the request of a minor.

These special enforcement details will be conducted randomly throughout the year with plain clothes officers posing as shoppers in the stores monitoring the sale of alcohol.
