Armed robbery in Wallingford

On March 26 at approximately 5:52 a.m. the Vermont State Police received a 911 call from an employee at the Smart Shop store, located at 172 N. Main Street in Wallingford, for a reported robbery.

Upon investigation it was learned that a pregnant female employee was walking into the store when a suspect approached her with a knife and forced her inside. The employee was forced into the bathroom while the robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the business.

The employee was uninjured in this incident.

The employee's vehicle was also stolen from the scene. It is believed that the suspect took the employee's blue, 2000 Chevy Tracker 2-door, with a broken back plastic window. The vehicle was subsequently located by a DMV inspector on Creek Road near the overpass of Rt. 4 in North Clarendon.

The suspect is described as a male approximately 5'5" to 5'9", unknown age and unknown race. He was last seen wearing all black, including a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black facemask and black gloves.
