The Killington Mountain School (KMS) Snowboard Team charged into
the weekend's regional events with multiple podiums in two
different states, Jan 5-6. In the USASA Southern Vermont Series
event held at Bromley, Nikki Sardelli, of Killington, won the giant
slalom for Youth Women (14-15) in both giant slalom events. Gavin
Ferguson, of Woodstock, took third in Youth Men in both races as
well.
On Sunday, Sophie Anderson, of Littleton, Mass., took top honors
in Junior Women (16-17) at Whiteface, N.Y., in the USASA ADK series
slopestyle event. Kurt Weidman, of Charlotte, placed third in the
Junior Men (16-17) and Matt Beach, of Hanover, N.H., also found
bronze in the Jams Men (18-19).
At Stratton Mountain, Maggie Leon continued her winning streak
with a first place finish in the girls 14+ USASA Southern Vermont
Series rail jam, qualifying her for the USASA rail jam exhibition
at Copper Mountain in April during the XGames.
"Despite the late arrival of winter here in new England, we're
off to a strong start due to creative training and the strong work
ethic of the team," said KMS Snowboard Program Director KC Gandee.
"Our results from the weekend are proof that diligence and 100%
effort pays off."
