RUTLAND — On Saturday, April 25, Mitchell Therapy Pool at the Vermont Achievement Center held an open house to celebrate its re-opening, after having completed some much-needed structural repairs.

Pool director, Ann Hunt explained, “It may not look a lot different when you walk in, but major structural updates, mostly under the cement, had to be done.” The pool was also acid-washed and has all new filters, she added. The Robert Mitchell Endowment, which allocates fund to be used exclusively for the therapy pool, paid for the repairs.

Over 200 visitors came by on Saturday for the re-opening celebration, Hunt said, adding that April is also Autism Awareness Month. “We usually do some sort of event in April for Autism Awareness, so we decided to just combine the two events this year. We want to remind the community what a great resource we have here. It is the only therapy pool in the area. It is an oasis in here.”

Mitchell Therapy Pool has a new schedule, which includes aquacise classes and open swim times. The pool is also available to rent for private parties and birthdays. For more information call 802-773-7187 or email ahunt@vacvt.org.
