Mike O’Malley Memorial 5k to benefit Project VISION

Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m. — RUTLAND — The Mike O’Malley Memorial 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m., to commence and end at Giorgetti Park in Rutland.  Registration fees are $20 in advance; or $25 on race day. Advance registration is online at www.active.com (Mike O’Malley 5K).

This is a loop course through the Northwest section of Rutland City. There will be a race winner’s ceremony immediately following the race and a celebratory barbecue for all in attendance.

The 5K Run/Walk will honor Mike O’Malley, District Manager of Rutland Probation and Parole when he died unexpectedly in April 2011. Mike had a strong commitment to the safety and strength of this community. His friends, family, and colleagues wish to honor him and his civic engagement by holding a Memorial 5K Run/Walk to benefit Project VISION.

Event Planners will also be selling raffle tickets for $5 each or 3 tickets for $10. There are multiple possible excellent prizes, with the top five being an Orvis fly fishing rod/reel combo, a handmade braided wool rug (donated by Braided in Vermont); a golf foursome at Rutland Country Club and a golf foursome at Proctor-Pittsford Country Club and a $75 gift certificate to Timco Jewelers.
