WEST PAWLET—Janna Webb, physical education teacher at Mettawee Community School, recently announced that the school received the first place award for Division 3 in Vermont for fundraising during Jump Rope for the Heart 2015 on behalf of the American Heart Association.

“Jump Rope for Heart is such a fun event that our kids look forward to every year,” Webb said. “The students learn a variety of ways to keep their hearts healthy and strong. They also have the opportunity to fundraise for the American Heart Association—this fundraiser helps with research and education, but also benefits our school. Based on the amount of money we raise, we earn money for our physical education department to purchase new equipment. We are honored to receive this fundraising recognition for this important cause.”

Last year Mettawee Community School raised over $5,000 and Webb hopes to surpass that amount when the school participates in the 2016 Jump Rope for the Heart event to be held in February.
