Saturday, July 30 at 9 a.m.—RUTLAND-—Rutland Economic Development Corporation (REDC) is preparing for the Rutland Maker Faire to be held on Saturday July 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m during the annual Sidewalk Sale Days in Downtown Rutland.

“The Maker Faire gathers entrepreneurs, inventors and artists of all kinds and invites the community to come and see their work,” REDC Executive Director Lyle Jepson said. “I think visitors will be surprised by how many creative entrepreneurs are producing great things right here in Rutland County. This year we will have dozens of new and returning exhibitors, interactive workshops, demonstrations, and even competitions.”

VTDrone.com will host drone flying competitions, and Rutland Robo-Rattlers, Rutland Area Robotics and Battlebots will showcase robot battles, and Lab B will host a soldering workshop. REDC and Castleton University will raffle off a Zeraxa Camera Drone in a free raffle.

Other exhibitors include: Lab B Soldering Workshop; People’s Popcorn; 3D Printing and Microcomputing; Mill Brook Railroad; Visual World Dioramas; Astronomy and Optics; Fly Fishing Flies; Lucie deLaBruere and the EMMA Van; The Carving Studio; Animations with Python Turtle drawings and Scratch Programming; Castleton University and REDC; Scribblebots and Jitterbugs; Mac Steel Minion; Diamonds and More; and Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum.

“It’s our biggest event of the year [Sidewalk Sales], and having the Maker Faire here makes it a celebration of small business owners, artists, and entrepreneurs that makes Downtown Rutland such a special place,” said Mike Coppinger, executive director of Rutland Downtown Partnership.
