Live auction benefits West Pawlet VFD

Thursday, Aug. 20 at 5 p.m. — WEST PAWLET — The West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department auction will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 at the West Pawlet Firehouse, Route 153, West Pawlet. The auction event begins at 6 p.m. and it does not end until all items are gone.

Auctioneer for the event will be Chriss Mars, son of the late famous Vermont auctioneer Bus Mars, who taught his son well the tradition of presenting an entertaining Vermont auction. Chriss will use his talent of using rapid-fire, staccato calls to entice folks to purchase the products they know that they need to take home with them! Many bargains, including assorted antiques, tools, tables, dressers, mirrors, an old school desk, knick-knacks, glassware, toys and more arrive daily and await shoppers. All of the items are available to view starting at 5 p.m.; bidding action begins at 6 p.m.

The auction is a charity event in support of the West Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department. The proceeds from donated items help the department’s general operating costs and for much-needed equipment and training programs, both for new recruits and continuing education for long-time department member volunteers.

Food will be available for purchase, with a menu including grilled burgers, hot dogs and French fried potatoes, sodas and bottled water.
