“Leap of Kindness Day” slated for Feb. 29

LUDLOW—Monday, Feb. 29, is Leap Year . To mark this “additional day” of the year, the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce is encouraging everyone to do something kind for someone else, and is calling the day “Leap of Kindness Day.”

In announcing this new initiative, the OVRCC acknowledged its peers at the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, who developed the idea and shared its logo.

“We are delighted to partner with them on this wonderful initiative,” said OCRCC CEO Marji Graf. “We are fourth in the nation and the first Chamber in Vermont to commit to the program and we hope that others will follow suit.”

A list of suggested ideas can be found on the chamber’s website. Suggestions include numerous small gestures ranging from volunteer opportunities, making donations to charity, being generous to those in the service industry, and more.

Here are suggestions:

Donate to a food pantry

Tip BIG. When you get your daily cup of coffee, or you dine out for lunch or dinner, or you patronize any local business where tips are accepted, give a generous tip to those who serve you.

Send a note of gratitude to your child’s teacher. You could also enclose a gift card to that person’s favorite local store or restaurant.

Write a thank you note to a co-worker or bring someone in your organization a cup of coffee or take him/her out to lunch.

Thank our first responders–police, fire and EMS. Contact your local police, fire or EMS department to see if they’d accept a small token of thanks from your organization for keeping us safe and being there to help whenever they are called.

Make an online donation to local charity or nonprofit of your choice.
