Ladies Night Out Women’s Chorus is looking for a few good singers

Tuesday, Aug. 26 — RUTLAND — Opportunities for new singers to join the Ladies Night Out Women’s Chorus are coming up on three Tuesdays: Aug. 26, Sept. 2 and Sept. 9 at Director Lucy Allen Tenenbaum’s home studio in Rutland. Call to set up an appointment for “musicking” to assess your singing voice and where in the chorus you best belong. Women who can carry a tune are welcome. The music is taught not only at weekly two hour rehearsals, but at sectional rehearsals set up as the choir members have time, and each part is put on a Mp3 recording (on CD or DropBox) that you can use to learn the music.

This fall we are preparing for the 5th Annual Advent Concert with Heidi Soons, Harper from the VSO. There are 10 rehearsals with three concerts, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 2. Jacob McLaughlin is the rehearsal pianist. Pieces with harp are “Winter Solstice”  by Paul Carey and “How Lovely Are Thy Dwelling Places” by Joseph Rheinberger. Other music includes a 2008 piece by Mark Sirett called “The Song of the Angels” for a cappella women’s chorus and various bells, cymbals and wind chimes. The balance of the concert is traditional Christmas Carols with a focus on bells and angels.

The fee for the semester is $40 with scholarship available as needed. No singers will be excluded for lack of money to pay the fee!
