Wacky, wet, and cold: Killington’s pond skimming delivers thrills and chills

Skimmers are generally dressed to impress, or at least garner crowd encouragement.

Saturday, April 16 at 9 a.m. — KILLINGTON —  Skim the pond or watch while others try in Killington’s Nor’Beaster event, the Jeep Pond Skimming competition to be held at the base of Superstar Trail on Saturday, April 16.

Registration will open at 9 a.m. at the Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars. The entry fee is $10 (cash or check only). There will be no pre-registration for this event. This event is open to both skiers and snowboarders and is limited to the first 100 registrants.

The competition runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards follow from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the Umbrella Bars. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female in each category:

  • Best overall skim (made it across the pond)
  • Best costume
  • Biggest splash (didn’t make it across the pond)
  • Best 14 & under overall skim
  • The Judges’ Award (one award only)
