Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m.—HUBBARDTON—Head to the Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site in Hubbardton on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 7:30 to 11 p.m. for Deep Sky Discovery Night. Members of the Green Mountain Alliance of Amateur Astronomers will help to unveil the hidden mysteries of our universe.
Using telescopes set up by the alliance, tour the galaxy, observe the moon, Saturn, Mars, the constellations, and the Milky Way. If the weather is inclement, enjoy an inside program with exciting images of space starting at 7:30 p.m.
Bring blankets, flashlights, and, if already possessed, bring binoculars or telescopes. The Hubbardton Battlefield has little modern light pollution and a sweeping open sky, and is the perfect spot to observe the sky.
Admission is by donation. The whole family is welcome to stay up late to see the show in the night sky—after all, it’s Labor Day weekend!

The battlefield is the site of the only Revolutionary War battle fought in Vermont. It is located in Hubbardton on Monument Hill Road, seven miles north of US Route 4 from Castleton or six miles east of VT Route 30 in Hubbardton. The site is open Thursdays through Sundays. The last regular day of the season is Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 13. Regular admission is $3 for adults and free for children under 15.
