Cooler in the Mountains brings popular artists to Killington for six weeks this summer
Saturday, July 26 at 3:30 p.m. — KILLINGTON — Hot Day at the Zoo brings old time vocals and a mix of “Zoograss” with them as the quartet appears in concert at Killington Resort on Saturday, July 26 from 3:30-6 p.m. The band’s performance at the K-1 Base Area kicks off the Town of Killington’s 5th Annual Cooler in the Mountains summer concert series, presented by Long Trail Brewing.
Hot Day at the Zoo mixes folk, blues, ragtime and jazz with progressive bluegrass and Americana-infused rock and roll that leaves fans wanting more at the end of each show. The group has performed at festivals across the country alongside names such as Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Moe, Levon Helm, and more. Their rock and roll with bluegrass instrumentation resonates with fans of bands like the Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, and the Grateful Dead. The Boston Globe once wrote of the group, “When we think of a hot day at the zoo, we picture lethargic animals and sweating visitors. But this Hot Day at the Zoo is very cool, and anything but lethargic.”
In addition to Hot Day at the Zoo, Nashville recording artist Dan Evans will also take the stage to open the show. The singer/songwriter was a contestant on season five of the Biggest Loser and will be in town for the weekend when he brings the Biggest Loser RunWalk back to Killington for the second year on Sunday, July 27. Evans released his first solo album “Goin’ All Out” in 2008, which debuted at No. 7 on the country album charts.
Cooler in the Mountains concerts are free, family friendly events that run every Saturday afternoon July 26 – Aug. 30. The Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars will be open during the show, serving fresh food and cold drinks. Outdoor lawn games will accompany live music and guests are encouraged to bring lawn blankets and chairs. There will also be specialty Long Trail Beer tastings, a BBQ, and scenic gondola rides for spectators to experience the views from 4241 ft. Concert goers may also enter to win a 2014/15 Killington Season Pass, which will be given away at the conclusion of the series. The next concert is on Aug. 2 and features Santa Mamba.
