Gift art this holiday; unique gifts to be found

Friday, Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. — BRANDON — “The Art of Giving: The Giving of Art” holiday show at the Compass Music and Arts Center provides art enthusiasts and holiday shoppers with a selection of handcrafted, one-of-a-kind artwork, jewelry and other gifts. The show opens on Nov. 6 and runs through Jan. 9, 2016.

This year’s exhibit includes unique jewelry made of polymer clay by Christine Damm, as well as glass enameled and fused glass bead jewelry by Kristen Varian. For the holidays, an assortment of ornaments will be available as well, with slate-painted ornaments by Christine Holzschuh and hand-felted ornaments by Sara Longworth. Painters Gayl Braisted, Cindy Griffith and Marcia Hill present their watercolors of Vermont flora and architecture, magical-realism paintings and energetic landscape pastel paintings respectively. The fine art photography of Lowell Snowdon Klock captures the winter season. Fiber works by two local artists will also be exhibited: Judith Reilly’s representational and catawampus fiber designs and the women’s accessories from vintage and upcycled materials of Rachel P. Smith’s Reanimated Threads.

The Compass Music and Arts Center is located in Park Village at 333 Jones Drive, Brandon.
