Get active with free “Couch to 5k” training program

Monday, April 13 at 7:30 a.m. — RUTLAND — Rutland Regional Medical Center is excited to offer a free Couch to 5k Training Program to the community. This program will prepare you to run a 5k in nine weeks. Have you been a bit of a couch potato and in need of a boost, or wanted to join your co-workers or friends in that 5k event that the community rallies around? This is for you!

The idea is to guide participants gradually into the running program so that the 5k, which is 3.1 miles, can be successfully achieved. This free training, for 30 minute sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, will be led by coaches from Rutland Regional Medical Center.

This program is designed for those who have been leading an inactive lifestyle but who want to start being active. The Couch to 5k training program will help improve your condition over nine weeks to enable you to run a 5k.

There will sessions from 7:30-8 a.m. or 5-5:30 p.m. and the training will begin on April 13 and go through June 12. This program is for those over age 18 and there are a limited number of registrations available.

The training program will be held at Rutland Regional’s loop, located at 160 Allen Street.
