George J. Deblon installed as Grand Master for Vermont Freemasonry

PITTSFIELD — George J. Deblon, of Pittsfield, Vt., has been elected and installed as the 86th Grand Master of Masons for the state of Vermont, at its 221st Annual Communication held at the Killington Grand Hotel and Resort in Killington, Vt., on Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

George Deblon works for the town of Pittsfield as the road foreman, and has been in that position for 24 years. He has served the town of Pittsfield as fire chief, served on the Selectboard, cemetery commission, justice of peace, moderator, as well as several other town offices.  He and his wife have three boys, Dylan, Derick and Daron.

George Deblon’s masonic career started when he petitioned Rural Lodge #29, in Rochester, Vt., he took his first degree on January 6, 1988, second degree on February 3, and was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on March 5, 1988.  He worked his way up through the several chairs in the lodge and was Worshipful Master in 1996 and 1997.  He was secretary of the lodge from 2004 through 2012, and served as the Master for the second time 2012-2014.  He served the Grand Lodge as District Deputy Grand Master from June 14, 2006 – June 11, 2008, was elected Grand Senior Deacon on June 11, 2008, and was appointed and installed as the Grand Lecturer by Thomas Johnston, IV, Grand Master, on June 10, 2009, that was the start of his progression to eventually serve as the Grand Master.

Deblon is also a member of Forest-Unity Chapter #82, Order of the Eastern Star, in Sharon, a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Consistory of the Valley of Burlington and the Council Valley of Rutland. He belongs to the York Rite in Rutland — Davenport Chapter # 17, Royal Arch Masons, Davenport Council #12, Royal and Select Masters and Killington Commandery #6, Knights Templar.  He is a member of the Green Mountain Chapter #527, National Sojourners, Gaspee Order #99 Sword of Bunker Hill, Providence, RI, and a member of Cario Shriners of Rutland.  He is also a member of the E.J. Wildblood Lodge of Research.
