Fifth annual “Your Journey Starts Here” event helps youth plan for future careers

Friday, April 3 — CASTLETON — The Rutland Region Workforce Investment Board’s Council on Youth is working with the middle school counselors of Castleton Village, Fair Haven, Mill River, Orwell, Benson and Rutland Town School to organize the fifth annual “Your Journey Starts Here” event on Friday, April 3. It is a one day event held on the Castleton College campus guided by Castleton student leaders and athletes. This event has reached about 1,300 students since it started.

This year’s speaker is Paul Faenza, an officer with the Black River Area Coalition and Ludlow Police Department. Mr. Faenza’s presentation follows the event’s theme that now is the time to begin thinking about and planning for your future career. During the day Castleton College students will discuss their personal journey as they lead students on a campus tour and facilitate learning activities. Representatives from a variety of industries will also discuss how they have built their careers.
