“Passages at the Paramount” continues with artist Daniel Lebhardt

Friday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. — RUTLAND — In the on-going collaboration between the Paramount Theatre and Young Concert Artists (YCA), Daniel Lebhardt, pianist, winner of the Paramount Theatre Award at the International Final YCA Auditions in November of 2014, will be appearing at the Paramount on Friday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. In a unique expansion of the Paramount/YCA relationship, Mr. Lebhardt will be performing a work by YCA Composer in Residence, Tania Ko entitled Games of Belief (2015).  

23-year-old Hungarian pianist Daniel Lebhardt has impressed audiences and critics alike with his thoughtful interpretations and outstanding virtuosity. Mr. Lebhardt won first prize at the 2014 Young Concert Artists Auditions in Paris, and then won YCA’s International Auditions in New York, where he was also awarded the Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize and four concert prizes.  Among his many other accolades, Mr. Lebhardt won First Prize at the Russian Music International Piano Competition in California, First Prize at the Citta di Gorizia International Piano Competition in Italy, First Prize at the Kosice International Piano Competition in Slovakia, and First Prize at the Carl Filtsch International Piano Competition in Romania. Most recently, he won the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) 2015 Auditions in London. 

This season, Mr. Lebhardt makes his recital debuts in the Young Concert Artists Series at the Kennedy Center on Feb. 23 and in New York in the Rhoda Walker Teagle Concert on March 1.  He also appears in recitals for the Buffalo Chamber Music Society, Hayden’s Ferry Chamber Music Series, the Port Washington Library, the Levine School of Music, and the Paramount Theatre. In the U.K., Mr. Lebhardt appears in recital at London’s Steinway Hall, Colston Hall in Bristol, the Pounds Arts Centre in Wiltshire, the North Fylde Music Circle, the Darlington Piano Society, and as soloist with the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra. He also performs at Germany’s Usedom Music Festival.

Mr. Lebhardt started piano lessons at the age of six, and from the age of nine attended the Special School of the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, studying with István Gulyás and Gyöngyi Keveházi. Since 2010 he has attended the Royal Academy of Music in London where he first worked with Christopher Elton, and since 2012 has been in the studio of Pascal Nemirovski.
